In KColor, you can instantly transform a single color in your palette into a full range of tonal variations using the color scale feature. This is useful when you want more flexibility or subtle nuance in a particular color slot.
How it works
Click the scale icon inside any color swatch in your palette. That color will be temporarily replaced by a vertical list of scale variations based on its hue, saturation, and lightness. These variations are generated from light to dark, giving you a balanced selection of shades and tints for that specific color.
Choose your variation
Simply click any color from the scale to apply it as a replacement for the original swatch. The new variation becomes part of your palette, maintaining visual harmony while offering a refined alternative to the base color.
Why use it
Color scale selection is ideal when fine-tuning a palette for accessibility, UI contrast, or aesthetic balance. It ensures you’re not locked into one version of a color and can quickly explore subtle changes without switching modes or starting over.
Next steps
Use this feature to enhance visual flexibility and bring depth to your palettes with just one click. It’s especially powerful when working with brand guidelines, UI states, or color accessibility standards.
